Believing/Doubting Game

"I have done my very best work on this assignment."

I believe I have done my best on this rational argument paper. Finding the topic to write about in this paper was easy to pick. Over the past few days, I have been revising my paper to make it sound better. I have also managed to choose better quotes that fit and argue well with the paragraphs. Spending extra time outside of the classroom with my professor helped a lot. After seeing her, I made a lot of major changes to the paper, so I am confident my paper is alot better than it was several says ago.

While, on the other hand, I do feel I have some doubts with this assignment. Starting off writing this paper, it was challenging. I have never wrote a rational argument paper before, so I was missing a few assignments it called for. I also was never good at inserting Etho's, Logo's, and Patho's into the paper. I do believe my paper includes several sentence structure errors. I know I need to spend more time practicing sentence structure.

Overall, I feel my paper is a lot better now, than where it was a few days ago. I do feel it still needs more revising to it, before Wednesday. It still needs to include more of Ethos, Logos, and Pathos. These three are in the paper, but I feel not enough. I plan revising and having peer editing done before the due date. The more time I put into my paper, I feel it will become a better paper.

Rational Argument Paper so far..

(Creative Title)

Are we too attached to our cell phones? Most likely everyone has it in their hand or close to them. Many are scanning the internet, texting and even talking on it. It seems that nowadays it is the norm to constantly check your mobile devices. Is this norm causing addictions in our society?
One source from Healthy Living, titled Technology Addiction: Warning Signs of A Cell Phone Addict, by Lizette Borreli. She has her BA in Media Studies from CUNY Hunter College. In her article she positions by displaying the word addiction in her title twice. By Borreli purposely placing the word twice shows an appeal to logos. Borreli is reinforcing her claim and stating the obvious in her title.  She is making it known to the public that smartphones are really something to be concerned about.
As I continue along reading Borreli’s article, I notice a term she defines right away. That someone could possibly have and be diagnosed called nomophobia. “…People who suffer from “no mobile phone phobia” (Borreli 1). She explains, today, around sixty-six percent of people suffer from this kind of phobia. Which is shocking news to hear. More than half of the population of people suffer with this phobia.

Connected to Our Cell Phones

Many people constantly have their cellular devices in their hands or somewhere closer to them at all times. This could cause serious problems especially if one is using their device while driving. Behavior like this can be serious signs of cell phone addiction or nomophobia, which is the fear of being disconnected from social media and virtual world.

Micro Theme

Social Media an Addiction?

Around the globe, many of the population believe that social media is an addiction in today’s society, including me. I do believe we are constantly connected to our phones, one way or another. Sadly, without our phones we feel lost. There are many times I do not know what to do if I did not have my phone on me. It is like an addiction. We are so engaged in what is happening on social media, like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, to name a few, instead of what is going on within our world. We are so dependent on our phones and what others are dong with themselves it is hard to focus on general issues and problems when we can even fix ourselves.
Of course, people have the ability to look at their phones and social media whenever, but the issues comes to when is it really necessary? I cannot keep count on how many times I see people on their phones while driving. They usually are on their devices, texting, or even scrolling while at the stoplight. Not only does it put danger in themselves but others around them. Most states have even made it illegal now to be on a cell phone while behind the wheel.
Another reason why social media is an addiction is due to the fact that we do not want to fall behind on a topic or issue, especially if it is viral. People are paranoid on missing out on a discussion and also being able to voice an opinion on it. This proves why we are constantly refreshing the page and seeing anything unique or different happening around us.

Lastly, having these portable social media apps that we can take anywhere with us is a threat to all of us. With all the consequences it has, we still ignore the effects it has on us. If there was a way to reach out to let others know what the real damage it does, it can really change the outlook on this addiction.

Summary Writing Reflective

Reflection of Summary Writing

During these past few weeks, my college writing two class has discussed what is summary writing.  I have learned new and important things about summaries. Mainly, summaries, in my definition, are short described gists of a topic. It includes the setting, plot, characters, and most importantly the theme. Summaries should only include the main points, not a lot of details, and use less information. A summary can be about anything, but should basically just be an overview of the subject. More importantly the reader should show the main points of their summary.
